Weekend at Havins

We spent the weekend camping in the rv at The Havins estate. Vikki and David Havins and kids Chance and Vaughn live in the avocado groves high above Temecula.

Riley stayed with her mom but DJ and Holden went with me. They kept busy target shooting, jumping on the trampoline, playing darts, catching frogs and centipedes, swinging on the tire swing, and hiking around the property. I cooked a little and all of us saw Chance in a community play in Fallbrook.

The kids said they had a great weekend and we promised to schedule another one very soon.

Holden got an IPOD TOUCH from his grandparents for his birthday and Christmas. He installed some software so that the device works like a phone when he is in a wifi zone. He can text and be texted. Contact me if you want his number.

White Christmas

We spent Christmas vacation at my mom's house in Show Low, Arizona. This is a picture of Holden and my mom's surrogate grandchild, Dalton. Holden and Dalton spent time target shooting off the back porch.

On the way to Show Low from Globe we stopped for a potty break at this view point. Gunther got to run around and I got to stretch my legs. You can't tell from the picture but it's about 33 degrees outside. Kids don't get cold until they get cold.

The new Navion had no trouble with the hill or the cold. Unfortunately the kids watched a movie most of the way there. I had to get them to turn it off when we started to see snow.

On the way back from Show Low we ran into trouble when a filter housing for the water system thawed after being frozen for so long in Show Low. We had to get it repaired in Peyson. Luckily, we had time to find a shooting area in Tonto National Forest. This was what DJ has been waiting for the whole trip.

DJ carefully showed Riley and Holden the safety procedures for the pistols and the rifles. Each of us got to fire DJ's Mosin Nagant Russian WWII sniper rifle too.
