Happy Birthday Carol

Happy 42 to Carol (Bennett) Ivancik who had a great karaoke and wine party last Saturday. I dropped off my three kids with Carol's two kids at a neighbor's house for Carol's no kids party.

My parents probably remember Carol well since we have been friends since about 1985. Except for her brother and mom, I was the one at the party who has known Carol the longest!

This is the second time I have brought Jisselle over to see Carol and family. As you can see they are now friends.

Carol got her voice from her mom who is a travelling singer. She always brings Ed, her companion, roadie and saxaphonist. This was my favorite part. I was thumbing through Carol's karaoke collection looking for some Glen Miller and Duke Ellington so I could sing with the sax man.

Garage Sale in Familiar Brea Neighborhood

My kids love garage sales. This large garage sale was taking place in my mom's neighborhood when she lived in Brea. It is where Dorothy and I got married. Only DJ remembers the house.

Leaving Iowa

Leaving Iowa today for home. The highlight of the trip was this pork tenderloin sandwich, common here in Iowa. Yes, I ate the whole thing.

They also have a 'made rite" sandwich which is like a sloppy joe without the sauce.

My only culinary mistake was ordering a crab sandwich at a famous Cedar Rapids bar called Tic Toc. It was surimi - no crab - heated with cheese and served on marble rye. Ugh.

In between trying different foods I managed to get some work done and met about a dozen people at the TFS customer service center here in Cedar Rapids, IA.

DJ's Weekend

It was a DJ only weekend, March 4-6. As you can see, one of the things we did was get him a haircut. His friend Axel spent the night and Sunday we went to the swap meet.

The biggest part of the weekend was visiting old friends in West Covina, the oldest being the Hiltons, our next door neighbors for fourteen years. DJ wanted to show Mr. Chet his knives, rifles, handgun, guitar and books. We also saw other neighbors and might be going with the Casillas family to Laughlin this summer.
